Unless you have 30 pounders, reducing wheel weight by half will be next to impossible. When you get down to the 15lbs range, the wheels usually don't look very good. They are more for the hardcore track junkies where it's function over form.

If you get something custom like the Kinesis wheels, you can specify the offset, thereby eliminating the need for wheel spacers (and a little bit of unsprung weight).
