You used loc-tite on the insert threads into the carrier, right?

I painted (brushed on the G3 stuff) last January. It's held up well although I did a crappy job of cleaning the calipers.

Great question. No, I did not. The insert is so firmly put into the carrier with the tool they give you that it is not needed for the Time Sert system.

I did put anti-seize on the new bolts though so they'd come out easily next time.

Randall,

I feel all left out.

You didn't even mention the hard work I was doing while you two were
drilling and filling.

You even photographed it.

But did you share?

No.

PS: For the rest of you, I was roasting up some Brazilian coffee beans. And
they turned out GREAT! (Even though Randall, incorrectly I might add, says
that the process smells like burning a dead cat. I would like to find out how
he knows what burning a dead cat smells like.

PPS: Now Randall's brakes feel just great. Nice firm pedal. A lot better than mine,
I must say. Mine are like putting your foot in a bowl of oatmeal. But it goes back
to the dealer this week to get fixed. Again.

I plan to tell them to just keep it until it's fixed.

OK Randall,
Looks like you need to resolve this right away....ASAP! Otherwise, you're in big trouble! :D

P.S. BTW, how do you know what a burning cat smells like....huh?? Maybe you shouldn't answer that!

Looks good. Hope you red locktite'd the threadcert or it may pull out if you ever remove the caliper bolt in the future. @ 85Nm (63 ft.-lb.) to tighten/loosen the Caliper bolt (you'll undoubtedly apply more when removing if you use a breaker bar), you also want the threadcert to stay fast.

OK, here's a pic of Mark roasting his coffee beans, attempting to be productive whilst I was busy repairing my brakes...

After seeing this (and others with problems) and knowing the history of rusted bolts
braking off or stripping I am going to take all my parts and bring them to Musante and have them install it for me. I'd rather pay them to take care of it then deal with a bad situation 1 week before a trim to North Carolina.

There isn't anything wrong with my current brakes so I'll wait till I get back.

Thanks for the info and pics. I hope I don't have the same problem when I change my front rotors. +1 on kicking the guy in the nuts that didn't use anti-seize. lol

You're welcome.

I'd say don't freak out over something that may not happen.
