She Won't Start
My 02S has been sitting in the garage for a week due to weahter. I decided to start her up this morning to bring her up to operating temp, but she won't start.
When I turn the key, everything lights up, but I get a tick, tick, tick sound. No engine turnover. Any thoughts? Thanks for help. |
How old is your battery? If it's over 4 yrs., you're probably due for a new one. Not driving it for only one week shouldn't drain the battery that much.

That is definatly the battery, get the car started and get it changed asap.
good luck James |
If it's the battery, why is everything else working? Not enough power to turn the crank?
Thanks |

It is definitely just a low battery, but you may not need to buy a new one. You can get a battery tender trickle charger and it will most likely charge it back to regular levels.
You will need one whether or not you need a new battery as it sounds like your car sits for long periods of time due to weather where you live. I had this happen with my old Harley and the battery tender was a life saver. Has not happened with the Boxster yet as I'm able to start/drive it enough |
Whatever you do even if you charge it back up, get it swapped over, batteries are a pain and a weak one is awful all that needs to happen is you leaving the inside light on!!

Yes, it's probably the battery. But I would suggest to check the battery if it has enough fluid and if not, fill it with some distilled water. Run the car to charge and bring some spare jumper cables or battery jumper just in case. If it starts working for you, you might be able to squeeze a little more life out of it. In the meantime, prepare for getting a new battery.
Hope this helps. |
