Window problem
 

Anyone have an idea what causes the window to drop slightly when the door handle is engaged? My passenger side window has ceased to function.

As in "why does it go down" or "how does that happen"?

If the question is why, it is to clear the door gasket, which overlaps the window when both the roof and glass are up.

Ad Sach posted something recently on how to reprogram the window(s).

Which passenger side door handle. The inside or outside?

I think another reason was that to make it easy to close the door easier by letting the air pressure to escape when opening and closing. Remember the old VW beetles when you're trying to close the door, you thought you were going to puncture out your ear drums because cabin was like a vacuum?

Don't know for sure, but I suspect there is a switch of some sort in the door that is not operating on your passenger side.

I know the why - to clear the gasket.
TP - the outside handle seems to be the issue.

There is a switch in the outside door handle. Operate the handle up and down and see if you can hear it click. Compare to the other side. If not then you have to get the door panel off and see what is wrong.
