Parking Break Sensor?

Hey guys having issues i realized it when my top wouldnt go down- the parking break isnt sensing its in park. I came to this conclusion by checking the light on the dash and it not registering the break was up. after a few pulls it does register that the parking break is up and the top works fine.

So what part do i need to fix it? how much labor is involved ?

Thnx in advance fellas...

Hi,

It's not a sensor, it's a simple switch. The switch is PN# 996.613.112.01. Replacing it involves removing the Center Console. Shoot me a PM w/ email addy and I'll send you the procedure...

I bought the switch with the intention of replacing it, but when I opened the center console up, I noticed that the wires were just loose. The switch is only about $7, but it may save you a trip to the dealer.

It is not hard to replace the switch yourself. 2 San Jose Boxster owners want to work on cars. You might hook up with them.

You don't have to remove the console to replace the switch. I've done it a few times with just a pair of needle nose pliers... only takes a few minutes.

I'll get one of the local women Boxster owners to do it. Aileen aka Madam No Fear has worked on more Boxsters than any guy I know. She will put in a short shift at the same time.

Boxster parking brake switch replacement

New to the forum. I think my parking brake switch is defective. The light bulb is good, but it does not light up when the lever is pulled tight. Also, the roof would not come up when the light was not lit. My question is: I have read where you don't have to remove the console to replace the switch. Can anyone on the forum elaborate how this is done? I read an old post where one only needs a pair of needle nose, but there were no other details.

Thanks in advance,

Marc
