Sold the Neon
I originally bought an 05 Neon as a loaner for my son while I did some major maintenance on his Passat. It's been good to have a cheap 4-door automatic around for short drives and bad weather. I thought I might drive it 'till it died without having to worry about maintenance. It has had a misfire at idle in cyl 4 with ~70% low compression, but didn't seem to get any worse. It was fine 'till I got a second Cayenne, now there's just no room. I almost gave it away, but decided to have a little Craigslist fun:

Noooooo! :D
I also sold mine, with 187k, to a single mom last summer...for $50. It's still running. ;) |
I raced a '99 ACR Neon at my first SCCA Solo Nationals in the D-Stock class. Finished one spot out of the podium, pissed off the owner for beating him while driving his own car, but we had some good times driving to out of town events and doing a lot of autocross racing in that car.
Don't see the older neon body styles driving around too much any more... |
The old Neons were great cars. We bought on for my youngest daughter when she started in graduate school, as far as I remember for $10,000 with 10K miles on it. No A/C, however. When she finished grad school she sold it for almost as much. Very trouble free and quite a peppy car. She loved it.
