Well, to be clear, this is not a scientific conference but rather a political one. It's mostly a collection of VIPs supposedly taking about the Future of Israel, whatever that is supposed to mean. As a scientist I feel that there is a distinct difference between participating in a scientific conference and a political loaded ones like this one. Steve Hawking decided to not shore up this conference with his presence. Good? Bad? I don't know? It's easier to talk about event horizons than trying to solve the Israel/Palestine problem.
