FYI: State Farm Ins. Renewal...

just got my policy renewal notice from SF and read through the policy. thought i would post an interesting tidbit i found to my policy and see if anyone else has seen it.

state farm (at least maryland) has added language that they will in no longer pay diminished value claims after an incident covered under the policy.

i know a few people on the forum have had luck arguing diminished value in the past...

Check with state ins commission, but other companies could offer it.

it is truely amazing how different the policies and rates have become across different insurers, well at least here in NJ. I just swtiched to Progressive (100 per month total coverage) and my old insurance company High Point ($230) was completely incapable of matching either the rates or the lower deductibles, loss of income ($700 per week!), 27/7 road side, etc. without jacking up the rates.
When I called State Farma and Allstate they didn't even bother with generating a quote once I told them it was $100 a month. "we'll try you next year". :D

I'm with SF on a special collector car policy that has an agreed upon value. They really don't care what the car is actually worth. If it's wrecked and totaled based on the amount of the repairs exceeding the insurance policy, I get a check.

It's also cheap. I pay something like $150 every six months for full coverage, no mileage limits (unlike Leland) and no restricted uses.

U S A A

About eighteen months ago USAA changed their membership criteria to include all veterans with an honorable discharge. If you qualify, you'll save a bunch of money and have a great company to deal with. I'm really glad to be a member now, and saved a bunch of money when I switched.
