my streak of >150k miles and 11 years of not getting a speeding ticket ended yesterday thanks to a downhill slope and very well hidden indiana state trooper.

i wonder if i could argue that i was only "going with the flow..."

I tried that defense when I got a ticket on the beltway around Indianapolis. No luck. In fact, the cop told me not to leave the state until I had "taken care" of the ticket. I called the court and they said they wouldn't have the ticket for a day or two. Yeah, right. I mailed it in.

You should have told him that you knew Johnny Danger. He probably would have given you a break ....

I got pulled over the other day. cop said my rear left brake light was out. proceeded to ask all sorts of questions gives me a ticket for expired insurance card (even tho the insurance is up to date)

turns out my lights were working when i checked them at hope... what a ****************er.

Just out of curiosity, what kind of violation is it in California for having an expired insurance card (i.e. having no insurance) ? In Massachusetts, automobile insurance is compulsory . And, its a criminal offense for operating an uninsured m/v on a public-way .
The minimum fine is $500 plus a criminal violation that goes on your record .

What did he get you with? Radar? Laser? You using any counter measures?

To be honest Jonny I am not certain. This incident happened in Texas. However, I can bet a decent amount of money that it would be around 500 dollars. A redlight ticket I think is around 475 dollars.

but i dont know what the deal is in texas I just got a warning since my insurance was california so he could not look it up in the system. (I could have just pulled it up on my phone but I did not feel it necessary) I know in New Hampshire the good old Live free or die state once you are 24 auto insurance is optional.

In my opinion he was just trying to give me a hard time or maybe see if I was drunk driving and lying about a taillight being out is a punk move. (which I did not know was the case til AFTER I got home so my attitude now about the situation is totally justifiable)

laser or pop. yes i was using a detector, but it was useless. he caught me as i was coming around a corner and down a hill. by the time the detector went off it was too late.

Laser is the biggest threat today. The instant on operation and narrow beam of light make it nearly impossible to detect before it's too late, making windshield mount detectors almost useless. Instead of beeping, they might as well just say "pull over, you just got a ticket".

I've been using an Escort 9500ci, which includes laser jamming capabilities. It's saved me from at least a half a dozen laser traps already. CT uses the heck out of laser.
