New 986S Owner Introduction

Hello All,

Just picked up a 2000 S with 74,000 miles. this is my first Boxster, Porsche, convertible, sports car, really first fun vehicle.

The good: The interior is in great shape. Previous owner has receipts for LN IMS bearing, clutch, flywheel performed two years ago by a very reputable local indy. Also replaced AOS, spark plugs, coils, and battery last year. Upgraded Litronics headlights.

The bad: Few paint chips and a small dent on the rear driver quarter. Tires have good tread but range between 6-10 years old and have some dry rot. Needs state inspection. Emissions passed and supposedly just the front rotors are under spec. We'll see.......

The only thing I am not real excited about is the wheels. They don't appear to be stock for the year and possibly aftermarket. Can anyone tell me more about them?

Welcome and nice looking car

definitely replace any tires older than 5 years
I would do an oil/filter change as well as a brake flush unless you have proof the brake fluid was changed in the last 2 years

Nice car and points for pics with your intro. Sounds like you are off to good start. Your PO also upgraded your rear lights to the 03-04 clears. Much better IMO.

You may not be crazy about the styling but those are pretty nice (quality) wheels. Congrats on the car, you'll love it. I have been looking for that shift knob for quite sometime. If you want to replace it remember me! lol
