What do you think?

I very seldom ask this type of question. Usually it's FULL STEAM AHEAD...

But you guys seem to have such good input I thought I'd throw out this 986 I found and see what you think.

2003 S -- a little under 59k miles. Pristine. My phone froze so no pics.
One Porsche dealer all its two owner life, trade in, all records.
Options:
Y1 Seal Grey Metallic
AA Standard Leather Seats - Black
249 Tiptronic S Transmission
411 18" Carrera Wheel
454 Cruise Control
659 On Board Computer
P15 Power Seats
P73 BOSE (Digital) with Windstop

I've been looking at older (2000/2001) models for 5-6k less, but the 03 has a few changes that seem good?
Looking under 17 out the door. Not trying to play "I got the lowest possible price" game this time around.

They said they did a check as part of the trade in- would that be enough in place of a PPI?

Thanks for comments!

rick3000 02-19-2014 01:04 PM

The 03 should have a glass window and clear headlights, which for me at least, would be a big plus. The general rule of thumb is to get the newest year you can afford.
I would still get your own PPI, and I don't want to comment further without pictures.

Agreed! But, after the PPI comes back clean, then dive in head first as seal grey is the BEST color!

I'm lining up the PPI now.

I would specifically want to know what those complete service records show about the IMSB and RMS.

Davev 02-21-2014 01:46 PM

Dealer service records show the IMS was replaced under warranty at 40k. RMS was also done at that same time but paid for by customer.

I'm really close to putting a deposit down...

Ok- I did the deal. Thanks for the info and I'll post pics next week when I pick it up.

Cool! I'll be one of the first to congratulate you.

Sweet ride -- enjoy!

New addition

This is my first Porsche. Just purchased, 2000 S with 40,000 miles, new tires, new battery, fully serviced, with hard top. The car looks like it's been meticulously cared for--no scratches, perfect leather, extremely smooth running motor.

Previous owner was gonzo on maintenance and cleanliness. He just purchased a new 911 Carrera and was going to give the Boxster to his daughter, but had second thoughts. Lucky for me, I spotted it in the newspaper and got in touch with the seller quickly. It may have cost me more than the typical asking price, but think this car is in such great shape (it truly looks brand new) that I couldn't walk away. Have only put 200 miles on it as it's been snowing here non-stop since I got it home. Anxiously waiting for some decent weather. Sorry, no photos yet.

They did some minor redesigns for 03-04, it looks like stock bumper to me. The rear bumper also has diffusers.

Davev 02-25-2014 04:40 AM

Very nice. Enjoy it. I don't pick mine up until Friday - but I'll get to drive it several hundred miles home.

Congratulations. That is the regular bumper, at least it looks just like mine. Now all that is left is to drive her like you stole her.
