Hmmmm...with metal flakes in the filter, I would pass completely. I guess that's a judgement call based on your level of comfort, but there is the possibility that the cylinders are scored from the debris

Did the mechanic doing the ppi check the cylinder walls with a boroscope after finding the metal flakes? Were the flakes ferrous or nonferrous?
