You will change gears more in a 6spd vs. 5spd. I understand that much.

Base is 5 speed only. The S gets the 6 speed.

Not necessarily.
In the S model with the 6 speed it has more torque so you may not need to change gears more often.

I own a 2001 base model 2.7 and I have to say this car is such a beautiful balanced car. So much fun to throw into corners then blast out. This car was made to drive fast all day long, a real road racing car! If you love to drive you will not go wrong with this car.
