New owner Longwood, Florida

Hello everyone,

We just purchased a 1999 Boxster. So far so good and it runs well, blows cold air. There are a few minor things that I would like to work on. Need to fix a rip in the drivers seat. Have a friend that owns an upholstering shop and works on German cars so have that covered. I'd like to replace the shift leather boot (not sure what it is called). Called the local dealer and they want $213 for a shift kit... I'm sure there is a place on the net where I can find items for the car and was wandering if someone would point me in the right direction.

My wife loves the car, my son thinks it's his and my daughter wants to learn to drive a stick shift... This and my Harley Street Glide is now my newest hobby. I'm in to reef tanks as well. Looking forward to meeting more Boxster owners. Jeff

Welcome to the "Family". There is a ton of info on this board. Just about any part you are looking for I am sure you could find with a search. However, I think most people here go through one of three places.....Pelican Parts, Suncoast, or E-Bay.

Of course there is always the for sale/wanted section!

Enjoy the car, and drive it like you stole it

Hi Joe,
I also am a new owner of a Black 2000 Boxster.
I will be joining the Central Florida Porsche Club this coming month.
If you are ever in need service or oil changes Euro Tech in Winter Park is awesome.
Welcome!!!

I just bought a 1999 Boxster yesterday. Live in Melbourne Beach. Drove it down to Deerfield Beach and back today, top down, hair in the breeze. I'm usually on my Harley Davidson Classic. Got home from my first ride today and couldn't get the top to go up. Came on here and after finding some advice already posted by "Maurice" - it went back up. Hopefully this won't be a regular problem.

HEy WesMatejka, I also own a Harley (2011 Street Glide). Love it.
In order for my top on the 986 to go up or down I have to have the emergency break engaged.

2000 Road King Classic here. And yes, the top won't go up on the Box without engaging the handbrake.
