My first Porsche...
Pulled the trigger and purchased my 2009 Porsche Boxter yesterday :D. Forgive me, for I am a total noob to Porsches. Unfortunately, the car was not at the dealership to pick up when I went to purchase the car. It was still at the shop where I had a independent pre-purchase inspection. So I'll have to wait till tomorrow to pick up the car:( I've had the dream of owning a Porsche since I was a kid and now I finally own a Porsche.
The Car: 2009 Boxter Base, 11,000 miles, PDK, Navigation System, clean report from independent inspection. USAA valued the car at $43,000, and I purchased it for $33,000. I'll take some pictures when I pick her up tomorrow evening and upload them. I'm very glad there is a forum like this to share info. Heading to Italy for a few weeks, I'll have plenty of time to read my owners manual. Justin |
1st drive
After waiting patiently for almost 48 hours I was able to pick up my Boxter! It came with the original owner's manual, maintenance record manual, 2 keys, and a cord to connect my iPod. So much to learn... I'll post pictures soon.
Oh yeah, the ride home was amazing:) Justin |

I guess I love German dogs and cars. As for the car, I keep making excuses to "run errands". Having the time of my life driving this car.
I'm so glad I went with the Boxter over the Cayman... Justin |

It's Boxster, btw...don't feel bad, it's a common mistake around here.
Welcome aboard. Nice lookin' machine you got there---I've always been kind of a fan of that color. Enjoy! |
Love the color! I would slap on some clear side markers to tie in the front end ;)

AGREE! The Clear side markers are a very, very simple job & worth it on this car IMO... But it is all personal taste.

I'm still in Italy, but thanks to some free WiFi I couldn't
resist. Italy is amazing, but I can't help thinking bout my BoxSter back home. Would love to be driving my Boxster through Italy! Made it through 1/2 owners manual on the trip over, still more to learn. I'll have to do some research on the clear side strips idea, thanks... Justin |
Back from Italy! I finally made it through the owner's manual on the return flight. I didn't realize you have be so careful washing the car! Any practical advice for cleaning these cars?
Also, I'm not exactly a tire expert so forgive me. The manual does not specifically say what precise pressure should be in the tires and I live in Tucson, AZ. I'm guessing I should run them at 35-37 due to the temperature. Ive noticed my drivers side front tire is at 31 currently, others at 33-36. Appreciate any help, Justin |
34 all around
indy says 34 what kind of tires size etc.... i think can make a difference
|
36 rear, 29 front is factory setup.
Btw, love the color! |

Ok, I've tried to research the clear or orange side markers. I cannot find an actual picture of one on this site. Any good examples out there?
I accidentally put super unleaded to fill up roughly 1/2 the tank. I thought that it was the same as premium - until I looked at the gas pump across from me. Will my car blow-up or have I caused possible damage? I have my tire pressures (stock 17 in) at 34's up front and 36's rear tires. I've noticed the tire pressure fluctuates quite a bit, it was in the low 90's today. Anyone out there have experience w/ PDK's? Thanks, Justin (total noob) |

No harm done, I think my trunk or frunk had a sticker from the factory stating that very thing. |
I finally made it on the freeway after 3 weeks. I was amazed on how "dialed in" my Boxster felt at 110 mph!
I'm getting close to my first car wash. I've researched this site extensively and this is what I've learned 1) hand wash 2) no automatic wash 3) be careful around the side air intakes 4) minimal washing of the top. Anything last min advice before I wash my car??? |
