My first ever Porsche Boxster (1998)
I was looking at cars for sale on the Internets and I stumbled across a 1998 Porsche Boxster. I could not believe the price and was amazed to find out that I could own a Porsche for let's say the same price as a Toyota Hatchback even though it's a 2nd hand car it's still a Porsche.
So I made my way down to the dealer and I have to say it was love at first sight I was totally blown away by it's looks and the condition it was in. I asked the dealer to take me on a test drive unfortunately I couldn't drive myself because I'm in the middle of renewing my license but even from the passenger seat I could see and feel how amazing this car is it's an attention whore with eyes locking in on every corner so without a doubt when we got back to the Yard I took it. Here are some pictures I took on my iPhone I can't wait to drive it next week when I go to pick it up. http://986forum.com/forums/uploads01...1347111676.jpg http://986forum.com/forums/uploads01...1347111731.jpg http://986forum.com/forums/uploads01/P81347111791.jpg  |
Congrats
Beautiful car. You're going to have a blast. BTW, JC Whitney has a kit you can get to move the steering wheel to the correct side. :)

20" wheels! Holy Schmidt!
I guess that puts unrest some of the arguments that you can't squeeze 20's on a 986. Do they rub at all? |

20" rims with NO spinners? Smh. Come on now. Talk them into throughing in some spinners to sweeten the deal!

As you can see above there's plenty of room and no rubbing at all. |
20" Rims ! Nice Rims?
Don't mean to embarass anyone, to each his own.... but you can still save this 986 by putting on proper Porsche Wheels ! just my opinion..Good Luck!

Don't worry about the wheels, just be careful though as the wrong size can damage or increase suspension wear.
I had a older Porsche in college with stock Fuchs wheels on it. Half of my friends would comment "awesome car dude, but gotta change those wheels". The other half would comment how clean and pure it looked with the stock wheels. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, and as the prices of these little cars continue to plummet, they loose collectibility and open themselves for wild modifications. |
actually...I really like these rims!

But Spinners? |
I don't like chrome wheels either but as was said earlier taste is not to be argued about. :)
However the 986 was never intended to have wheels that large, and the first years it was not even approved for 18" by Porsche. So you should be wary of this, especially considering the weight of those rims. |
