New Boxster Owner in Santa Monica

Hi all, I've been checking the site regularly but only now am I EXTREMELY happy to report that I am now an official Boxster owner!! So happy it's ridiculous... '97 Triple Black, Manual trans, 90k miles, sports touring package, 17" wheels, full service history, ton of receipts, new clutch, new tires, new coolant chamber and cap, regular oil changes etc. The only bad is the roof won't go down. Passed smog and no dash lights on. Loving driving it. http://986forum.com/forums/uploads01...1327523114.jpg
Any tips on getting the roof to operate manually, where to buy the correct paint etc would be greatly appreciated.
Happy motoring all!FD

A couple of pretty good references (with a 15 year old Boxster, you should probably consider getting one or both):

A few online sources I've used:

DIY Projects: Do-it-Yourself Repair and Maintenance for your Porsche

Pelican Parts - Porsche Boxster 986 / 987 and Carrera 996 / 987 Technical Articles

There will be a huge overlap between the pelican parts website DIY and the 101 Projects book---Wayne is responsible for both. The website has some additional photos, etc. The book is handy since it's easy to carry out to the garage for quick reference while you work. You can also get a LOT of info by just Searching this and other Boxster sites.

Hi, thanks for the reply and the recommendations. I've been checking out the technical articles which are excellent. I'll definitely be working on the car more than taking it to a mechanic. I've wanted one of these cars since '97 and have studied quite a bit about the potential work involved in maintenance. Truly exciting!!
