Winter storage tips
I'll be storing my '97 boxter this winter and I'm looking for some tips. It's got 33k miles (about 3 on the new engine). I live in Minnesota. It will be kept in a heated garage. Any advice? Thanks in advance.

To start off I would put Stabil in the fuel tank, get a battery tender, and a fresh oil change. I also left my front trunk lid ajar just in case the battery died. Keep proper air pressure in the tires too. You can search the forum as there are loads of information on this.
Also Mike Focke has a great website that goes into detail about storage and a host of other Boxster related topics. |
All I've ever learned
about the Boxster in Winter is here
Still remember my first trip there and asking what those cords were dangling out the front of so many cars. |

To stay on topic, I also stuffed foam rubber pads cut to shape into my exhaust pipe and intake vent to keep critters and bugs out. I try to properly wash, wax, and detail the car and cover it with a nice soft car cover. Contrasting this, I've also hastily stored some cars in the past (I used to keep cars in various states) and found that getting a good fuel stabilizer was the most important item. I once put away a motorcycle and forgot to put in Stabil and it really messed up the tank, fuel valve and carburetor. |
