Front Compartment Not Opening
 

My '02 Boxster's front compartment/trunk has developed an annoying habit of frequently refusing to pop open, neither by remote or rocker panel switch. When the switch is engaged I can hear the mechanicals whirring but the lid doesn't budge. Then the next day or so, I try again and it pops right up. I've taken to not using that compartment. But the spare tire's in there! Any help? Thank you.
