15000 mile checkup

New unsure boxster owner .... Does the warranty require you to use an authorized porsche dealer for your 15000 mile checkup. The local dealer wants $600 vs. Autobahn for $250? Do you rotate 18" tires on a boxster, my fronts look new and I am seeing significant wear on the rears?

I was quoted $400-450 by Clair for the 15k service. I'm not sure if having an independent would cause you warranty issues. Makes sense that if something broke it wouldn't be fixed under warranty by an independent. I don't think you can rotate left to right as the tires are directional. It's very typical of both Boxsters and 911 to have the rears wear faster than the fronts. Some people actually change just the rears first and when they wear out again replace all 4 tires. The rears seem to about twice as fast as the fronts.

You can not rotate fronts/rears (different size tires and wheels). I just hit 15k, and need to replace rears (badly); fronts about 60% rear, thus, I will do all 4.

Just had my 15,000 service done @ IRA in Danvers, which is still only 15-20 min form Reading. The total cost was $380.00 including oil, filters and hazardous disposal fees. I also had a rim swapped out (curb rash). I was charged $72.00, which seems reasonable considering the work and equipment involved. Call Tom Frizzle @ 978-739-8785 to schedule an appointment.
