BRBS VI - FAB time!! (bandwidth warning includes pix)
Rey and I just got back from Blowing Rock, NC for BRBS VI. It was a grand time -- highly recommended and it would be terrific to get fellow GBBG'ers down there.
We met up with a northeast contingent of people and close to 30 vehicles caravan'd from Staunton, VA to Blowing Rock -- how cool is it to see lots of Boxsters with a few stray cars in our group - a 355 Ferrari, an NSX, and an M3 were part of our group. Superb twisties with roads like glass!! Made terrific friends along the way, saw beautiful cars, that were clean rain or shine - and always amusing to watch cars being washed in the drizzle. Rey and I did a straight shot home with a 928....17 hours of blazing home with more trucks than you care to count...and narrowly missing a speeding ticket in CT....2 cars who decided to ride with the P-cars passed us and found themselves pulled over <whew!> :D Here's a few pix...in hopes of generating some enthusiasm for next year :D |
Blue Ridge Parkway
Here's our caravan on the Blue Ridge Parkway....not sure if you'd know it was mostly a Boxster caravan since the Ferrari and the M3 are behind us :p

850 miles to see more rain....
And it rained most of Friday day....made us wonder if it was worth driving 850 miles for more rain....as if we haven't had enough rain in MA.
But it was worth the drive, even if one day was rainy. Here's a view of a few cars from our room window. |
color comparison
So here's cobalt and zenith blue....
|
into the afternoon fog....
Off and on rain on Friday, but it made for time to wander the parking lot and check out a few cars, if you could see through the soup

Dinner at Hounds Ear....
We had dinner at an exclusive resort/golf club....mighty twisty roads on the way there. We filled up the parking lot and then some. One side street was closed off for us to park, but apparently the road was so narrow only one row could park, the additional overflow found themselves in someone's driveway - and hopefully the home was not occupied at the time ;)

Saturday morning Fun Run
We had a rally Saturday morning with all of us running up and down the Blue Ridge Parkway. This was the 5 cars on my team.
