Found very small pieces of metal in oil filter housing
Just as the title says. I was changing the oil and while I was cleaning the oil filter housing cover I found very small pieces of metal or what I think is metal. I couldn't find any in the oil filter, which seemed weird. Anyone else have this happen?

Bump,I know plenty of people on this board have changed their own oil before.

Have you checked your compression or oil pressure in the past? Might be a good idea to check it again. When i had brass/gold looking flakes in my oil on my MY65 912, it was result of a desolving brass valve guide. Explained all the tapping in my driverside head.

I recently saw what lookes like small metal flakes in my oil when I changed it. Car has been running like a top. I will send in a sample of oil as per the recommendations of other members to have it analyzed.

Ask MNboxster for the limits of how close the compression should be from one cyclindar to the next. |
