Question 986 S engine with 996 flash?

Is there possibility to flash Boxster's ECU from year 2004 by any flash file from 996 3.6 engine? (ME 7.8)
My engine is only variocam but compatible 996 ECUs are with variocam plus.
Seems it is no simple flash as it used to be with older Boxsters. (ME 5.2.2) Am I right?

My planned setup 987 Airbox, 987 MAF, custom hose, GT3 TB, custom T part printed on 3D printer (see Ben06's thread). Rest of the engine OEM. Long exhaust manifolds and sport exhaust are already installed in the car.

use the 2004 Boxster Special Edition flash. 996 flash won't work with your car (there are actually three types of variocam ...).

Thanks.
The 2004 SE flash should be just base. First step.
There must be some additional modifications regarding bigger throttle body. I think.
I hope the "tuning guys" will do their best, when they work on the ECU.

Pretty sure it’s just maf diameter that’s important. Make sure whatever flash you use matches the size of the maf you will be running

TRK flashed my 986 with a row tune after several attempts at trying a 996. Just be glad you don’t have an oddball year where they started updating half the wiring. I’m stuck using a 986 maf, 987 air box and 997 throttle body. Minor bottle neck but I’m happy not having to deal with the SAI and secondary o2 codes. The amount of HP you may lose running a slightly smaller maf is negligible in real world driving conditions anyways.
