Fitting aftermarket headunit to BOSE with optical

I want to fit an aftermarket headunit my late 2002 Boxster S fitted with BOSE system as standard. I've been told that it is the MOST system and the BOSE amp has an optical cable meaning that the only way to fit the headunit is fit an aftermarket amp and re-wire all the speakers.

Anyone know of a fitting kit enabling an aftermarket headunit to connect to the BOSE optical system?

You mention Late 2002 model however I believe the Fiber Optic Cables weren't put in until the 2003 model year.

What headunit are you running now? CDR-220?

It is a facelift 2002. Audio shop had a look and said it had the optical cable and that no other option but to re-wire. Have the CDR23.

I have just ordered a radio and harness that should be a direct swap. I will report back once I have completed and let you know how it works

Bits ordered from http://www.bergvillfx.com/
