Iv painted my roof bars
Hi Guys
After washing, clay barring and polishing my S a the weekend I decided to put right something that has been annoying me for a while.... The roof side bars seem to have lost a bit of their colour and picked up a few little scratches in their 17 year life. I carefully masked them off then gave them a very light sand down, wiped them with some panel wipe and a tack cloth then sprayed 3 coats of satin black. From start to finish it took about 40 mins. Im very happy with the results as they look like new now. http://986forum.com/forums/uploads02...1499670450.jpg |

Roof bars look great nice work . Ash tray delete is on my list of things to do .

Like my ashtray
I actually like having the ashtray door in place, I just use the area to store loose change.

What a good idea, might have to put that on my to do list!

I've found that the "Back to Black" product works fairly well on plastic parts.

Solution Finish FTW

Very nice job. It's the small things that really catch your eye after completing them.

That was one of the reasons the ashtray had to go.... it was covered in scratches |
thanks
Thanks guys for your kind words I'm glad my simple improvement was liked.
Car wasnt too shabby before hand but now it just looks that little bit fresher. Next improvement has to be the silver release catches on the drivers sill, they are quite badly scuffed. going to smooth them then base coat / clear coat them in 2 pack. my friend has a vinyl company so he will reproduce the little car symbols that go on them. WORD OF WARNING FOR YELLOW CARS..... don't know if you can see in this picture but due to a little bit of lacquer peel under the OS light cluster I had the bumper removed and repainted. The garage did a stunning job BUT.. although they got the paint match perfect on the sides it highlighted that the flat areas of the boot lid and tops of the rear wings have faded slightly resulting in a slight colour difference. I asked him could it be solved by painting them but he says it will only highlight other faded areas and before you know it the whole car will be getting done. Most days it doesn't bother me.... but somedays Im mentally writing a cheque for a top quality respray. His advice: Leave it alone as it doesnt warrant a full respray. Has anyone else had a similar problem? http://986forum.com/forums/uploads02...1499702743.jpg |
Nobody will see it but you!

Something about german cars painted yellow. The paint seems to fade at different rates and after a few years it looks like the car was painted with 3-4 different yellows. The bumpers are usually the first to change.

Your cat looks bored:)
|
Yeah, my bumpers on the yellow peril have faded differently than the metalwork.
