Tell us about your tool
In lots of posts people have mentioned a particular tool they used that worked really well, saved them time, or just made a DIY job go easier. My intent in starting this thread is to have a common reference for what tools work really well or in some cases which ones to avoid.
I hope that it does not get diluted like the torque wrench discussions, but is more to the point about what you have and why it is good or bad. Here's my first entry: http://986forum.com/forums/uploads01...1413822861.jpg The 10 mm triple square bit was a pefect size for the odd transmission bolt. The selction of other bits is handy. The ratcheting wrench that comes with it is great for tight places that don't need much torque and it is magnetic to keep the bit from falling into the unreachable. I broke the ratchet end once (using it with way more torque than designed for) and brought it back for an easy Lifetime Replacement. (The Stanley wrench holding the bit is not part of the kit, just was being used for applying a little more torque for the transmission bolt.) |

Let me go ahead and get this out of the way so we can stay focused on the tool discussion. |
Hahahaha! That didn't take long.

Thanks. You have no idea what a relief that was.... |
Let me add a legitimate post to this thread, which I think has the potential to be a great thread.
If you ever want to install a racing seat, or you have to take your seats out, this is a very handy tool to have: GearWrench 9221 E10 x E12 Torx Double Box Ratcheting Wrench https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000HBF5LQ/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1 http://986forum.com/forums/uploads02...1491398900.jpg There is not a lot of room to get in there with a regular socket wrench, and if you are floor mounting your seat with no slider, there is no way to get a socket wrench at the back two bolts depending on how far forward or back your seat is. Bonus tool: The "10" size wrench from this universal metric wrench set also fits those E12 torx seat bolts: 7 Pc Metric Universal Combination Wrench Set 7 Pc Metric Universal Combination Wrench Set http://986forum.com/forums/uploads02...1491399162.jpg For final tightening, or to break one of these bolts loose, this wrench is a good one, as I don't feel comfortable using the ratcheting version to tighten it down that hard. The torque spec is 65 Nm (48 ft-lb) |
