Bleeding clutch fluid
 

I do not have a pressure bleeder. Can you bleed the clutch slave cylinder, on a 1999 Boxster, with a vacuum pump? The same way you bleed a break cylinder? All the on-line info I find talks about using a power bleeder.

There is reason for that, most shops shy away from vacuum bleeding systems as they tend to induce more problems than they solve. Get a power bleeder like the Motive system, you won't regret it.

Pelican had a Sale on that item recently. Check with them?

You can reverse bleed. Buy a huge irrigatiion syringe at a surgjcal supply store or pharmacy. Fill the syringe with brake fluid and inject it at the bleeder valve. But i would fist open the valve and let the fluid drain. Otherwise you pump filthy fluid into the reservoir.

But yes. Pressure bleeding is the way to go.

I just recently changed my slave cylinder and am now in the process of bleeding the clutch line. The problem that I am experiencing is that when I fully depressed the clutch pedal I can hear the clutch line pop out of the slave cylinder and start pouring clutch fluid all over, I then have to jump and scramble under neath the car and connect the clutch line back into the salve cylinder. Ive spent many hours researching on how to bleed the clutch and replacing the slave cylinder but none of the forums seem to address this issue or any sign that this is an issue at all. Am I doing something wrong? and I not connecting the clutch line correctly? Ive been working on this for almost two weeks and I am almost at my wits end trying to figure this out. Any help would greatly be appreciated.

I am bleeding it using a power bleeder and my slave cylinder line is attached not by a threaded nut but by a clip in system which is where its popping out of. Thanks

Did you remove the clutch line from the slave? If so, why?
You don't mention loosening the slave cylinder bleeder valve.

All I've ever done to bleed the clutch line is to connect the motive to the MC, depress AND HOLD clutch pedal (need a helper for this). Open the bleeder valve on slave and let some fluid out until its running clear. Tighten bleeder valve. Remove Motive from MC. Pull clutch pedal up by hand.

All done.

I cut a piece of wood to wedge between the depressed clutch pedal and the driver's side seat rail.
