RS door pulls (latch release inside)???

I'm looking to make some clean simple door cards, ...

maybe copy the RS webbing loop door handle release.

Has anyone done this? how did you connect the webbing to the lock???

thx, matt...

short of hacking the stock lever way down to fit inside the door (under the skin)???
then making a mount

HELP. I need thoughts.

rs door cards - go on ebay uk and look for door cards without airbags or speaker cut-outs - probably as light as you could make and oem-looking. want to make them lighter? there's a thread on here about replaceing the lower carpet with leather (or whatever) and leave the pocket lids off - looks fine without them.

regarding the pulls, check with martsink who has 3d printed some adaptors for just that purpose. he also has a thread on here where he fabricated his own door cards. itsnotanova also has a thread head on fabicating door cards. note that if you delete the whole door pull mechanism then you are going to have to sort out a way to make the windows drop when you open the door as there will no longer be anything to trigger that microswitch (i don't think - i have yet to pull mine apart).

cut down lever?

Ya the micro switch is on the inner handle, so I was thinking of moving it to the lock mech, or to another latch, but from what?

in the end I was hoping there was a better solution...

I may just start whitteling it (og inner door latch) down to fit inside door shell, and create a mount, and fasten webbing to it...then stock cable and micro will work...

but ????

rs pulls, fail, take one,...

well, I got as far as webbing and all, kinda worked, but not near good enuf...

did you know (as I do now after 2 pick&pull yards) the latch actuation cable from latch (striker) to lever (on inside) is an Audi part...

so the same striker end cable is attached to almost any vw and audi inside lever...

A4 rear seat pulls (w tweeter), and it's cable to lock, perfect fit into boxster latch...

and clean and flat... Now to mount the micro-switch, cut Another pannel...

off to the salt mines.

Matt,

Do you happen to know the Audi PN or the model of Audi that uses it? I am talking about the white (about 6" long) white rear trunk actuator cable that releases the trunk when the button in the car is actuated... I think I can replace just the white cable part...

Thanks.

so, here's a pic of the actual door latch. the yellow arrow point to the other end of the cable that is attached to the inner door handle. possible to mount the switch such that it gets toggled by the metal arm that the cable attaches to?

that's cool. I would wonder if any weight is lost in this approach, however?
