oil fill tube
I replaced my middle fill tube which had developed a hole and cause a vacuum leak. The joint is now leaking oil. It was very difficult to reconnect the new middle tube to the old engine mounted fill tube.
Any ideas on sealing the leak at that oil fill tube joint? Thanks. 2000 base 2.7 Boxster |
Should be a spring clamp where the fittings meet. Is it on there?

Spring clamp is in place. There was a fabric band in the old joint. I reused it as best I could. It was near impossible to connect the new tube to the old tube.

I had to take mine apart. I don't remember any piece of fabric at the joint?

Mine had a narrow mesh-like thin strip in the joint. I left it out on my initial attempt to rejoin the two tubes because so much force was needed to reattached the tubes. The joint leaked. So I thought the fabric was a type of gasket. I reassembled the joint with the fabric and it still leaks.

Don't recall any fabric on mine either. Bare plastic IIRC.

I used a screwclamp and that stopped the leak. Be sure you get the clamp in the slot on the pipe. Its hard to see.

I replaced the spring clamp with a screwclamp in the joint groove. I'll monitor the leak and report back. Thanks.
