For these new coated ones, what is the best way to clean them?

I just used a soft cloth, no cleaning product needed. Tough as nails coating, I had a bit of trouble getting the wire connector through the frame and handled it fairly rough. NO SCRATCHES, marks or anything on the perspex.

Thanks Fred, you did a great job getting them coated with the protective stuff. Mine finally arrived yesterday and I fitted it, but I decided to temporarily use a 12v SLA Battery for power source all tucked away nicely in the glove box. Switch on and off via the dimmer switch currently will probably connect a remote RF to it for a trial. I may hard wire it eventually. :cheers: matey.

I finally found some time to install my Skybreaker. I mounted the control dial inside the manual holder under the steering wheel, which I never use, and routed the wiring alongside my rear speaker install up the passenger side of the car (under the dash and sill). The cable is just long enough to reach. I tapped into the center console phone plug for power.

The most annoying part was cutting a hole in the windscreen frame, and then milling out a groove for the wire (still a work in progress). I drilled a small hole, and filed the rest of the opening, to avoid damaging the frame. I also had some trouble getting the Skybreaker into the frame. It's a very tight fit, but I finally got it.

Fred, amazing work, and thanks for accommodating my modified design! I can still see clearly out my rear view mirror, but get to enjoy the 'Porsche' as well.

I also really (really) like the Amber kits. Can't wait to see one of those illuminiated on the Boxster car! I might have to swap mine. Also, anyone who wants to switch their LED color I have plenty left here and happy to snail-mail them over for the price of shipping (something like $8 loll). Sml envelop... unbelievebly expansive I know. An option for you guys.

ALL RECENT ORDERS/KITS SHIPPED!!! Dropped 22 at the post office this very morning and updated your tracking no on the system. Been warned there is one-big-day delay on departure due to the massive Typhoon we recently got hit with... every jets were grounded for a good 24hrs.

Although I've been told this super dupper coating is chemical resistant, would you fully trust?! I don't but that is just me... I've never really trusted chemicals lolll So... hot water, clean microfiber cloth and you it should last forever.

Windex, amonia based, else = at your own risks! Let me know how it turns out, I'm lazy to give it a try (seriously, haven't tried anything else other than hot/warm water). Works just fine for me. I guess if you have a lot of finger prints in it you could use hand soap or at the most dish soap.

I got my SkyBreaker covered in fingerprints when I was installing it in the frame. I cleaned it with Plexus (same thing recommended for plastic rear windows) and a microfiber cloth with no ill effects. Although, I will probably use water from now on, unless it gets really dirty again.

Thanks Fred, got the Skybreaker this morning and fitted this afternoon. What a top quality piece of kit! Possibly the only one in the UK (unless any fellow Brits have ordered one too). I tapped into the ash tray light and removed the bottom of the console storage unit to feed the wires through after driling a hole in the base. Unfortunately these iPhone pics do not do it justice.

What exactly is needed to mount this windscreen?

I am trying to figure out what I need to by from Porsche for my 1998 Boxster 986,

I don't have any center rear windscreen, only the honeycomb inserts behind each seat and thus no mounting hardware.

You need the frame itself. I think Ive seen just the frames on fleabay but cant be sure.

Can you buy only the "frame" from Porsche? What is the part number? Price?

It would be best to find a used one on eBay. You will also need the Wind Deflector Fastening Parts Set if your car did not come with a wind deflector. Take a look at this page on Pelican.
