I have this as well, also charges and plays iPhone 5 with the Lightening-to-30 pin adaptor.

We're in the same boat, trying to get an 8 track in the boxster. :D

You pop out the trim piece with a thin flathead or trim remover. Just 4 snap in pins on the corners. Then held in with 4 phillip screws that you can easily locate. Remove those and pull the cupholders out. Tada! :)

Springman26 01-12-2013 04:58 PM

Cool, thank you. I'm going to order the part now.

If I have a CDR 220 and don't have the CD changer, will it disable the built in CD player?

BrokenLinkage 01-12-2013 09:06 PM

rcbox-no. The built in cd will be fine. Its just that the Becker is set up to EITHER accept an aux input, OR be mated to a CD changer with which it has a proprietary protocol for certain functions. In either case, the phone and internal inputs (radio,cd or cassette) are not impacted.

Yes it still works, just not the changer.

Ok help guys I removed the cup holders to access the stereo but where the hell do I plug this thing in? I can't see the rear of the radio to make the connection. I downloaded the instructions but it shows with the radio out, I don't have keys to pull radio. Any ideas? Help!!! In in here now

Springman26 01-22-2013 11:12 AM

Ok I figured it out solo, I'm so proud of my self👍👍👍. I don't have a cd changer so I had to pull out the yellow amp plug and join it with the green and blue and plug it all back together.

MConte05 01-22-2013 12:03 PM

It'll be on the left side (when looking at the radio from sitting in the seat). Just feel around and look at the radio diagram in your owners manual. You'll see easily where it'll plug in. Get the tab aligned and oriented, and it'll pop in.

I don't know if there is an adapter yet for the 5(I have the 4s) but you can use the iPhone 5 adapter(32 pin to lightning) with the one I am using.

I just ordered the adapter online from Discount Stereo. I think I am going to Best Buy to have them install it. For $49.95 they will install it and also provide the holder for the iPod. Thoughts?

BruceH 03-23-2013 06:38 PM

What kind of holder? It is very simple to do. I routed the cable through the cubby for a clean install. $50 isn't bad if you don't have the desire to do it.

Since I don't have keys for the head and still need to buy and install a mounting unit, I think the price is fair.

BruceH 03-23-2013 07:40 PM

Yes, it's a fair price. Post a pic of the holder when it's done.

Springman26 03-24-2013 03:26 AM

$50 I think is a sweet price for the job. I say go for it.

I have this and it works great. I also bought a bunch of $5 knock off adapters from eBay. They will work to charge the iPhone 5 but will not transmit audio even though they say they will. So you have to spend $30 for the stupid Apple one.

Finally got it and installed. Very happy with it. Thanks for the advice. Question-if I leave my IPOD/iPhone plug in, will it continue to draw power after I shut engine off?
