damage from a construction truck

I was driving through a construction zone on the highway this weekend and a construction truck merged from the ramp and got in front of me. I heard objects hitting my car and slowed down immediately, realizing the open bed semi was losing gravel. The damage I can see thus far is stone chips to the front bumper, hood, passenger mirror and chips in the windshield glass. I got the license plate number to turn into my insurance company. I figure I am out the $500 deductible and the driver will deny responsibility.

Sorry this happened to you.

I NEVER tailgate in the Porsches. I never even like being in the same lane as a truck unless I can fall back a football field. And a truck without mup flaps, I pull a u-turn and head home to the safety of my garage.

i've been in that situation. driving through construction zone. was keeping my distance from the car in front of me because of the loose rocks in the road. dump truck pulled between us and immediately started dropping gravel everywhere (also had an open bed even though it was "empty") thankfully i was able to drop back fairly quickly and only had a few spots where anything of substance hit.
