2001 Boxster

Can anyone tell me what this part is? I have a leak here. See highlighted area in pic. It's the part right under the alternator left bottom bolt. The part is held in place with 5/6 screws. Not sure if it's hydraulic fluid or coolant.

do you have a leak there or do you have oil there. Two different things and a picture of your actual motor would help...especially in identifying the substance and source...

someone else posted a pic of that a while ago ,they broke the bracket r+r ing the alt. i believe its part of the cooling system

The area you're identifying is a cover for the engine coolant circuit. You'll want to get it repaired right away. Before the repair you might consider capturing whatever coolant the system might lose, it's re-usable. And don't neglect to replace the gasket!
