DIY ignition switch screwdriver
Replacing the ignition switch requires a very short screwdriver with thin flat head to fit the screw holes. Of course Porsche sells one but I made my own out of a common 1/8 x 4 Craftsman screwdriver, P/N 41589. Shorten both the handle and shank with a hacksaw and use a metal file to create a new tip. Then narrow the tip to 1/16" wide to fit in the screw holes. A Dremel grinding bit made this part much easier. The total length is 2 1/4" and next time I would make it even shorter.

Nice one timothy!
BTW, how long did it take you to modify that screwdriver? |
It took me a few tries to settle on the tip width and overall length but with target dimensions I expect about 15 minutes. Clamping the handle in a vise makes the project significantly easier.

LOL, looks like a prison shank :D
I used the small screwdriver that comes in the eyeglass repair kit you buy in line at the grocery store, worked like a champ! |
