2000 Boxster S Roller (Bay Area, CA)

Hi guys - my parents Boxster S recently stalled at a stop sign, and when brought to a mechanic, we were told they thought it was the IMS (honestly, not sure how thoroughly they looked at it). Anyways, my parents are 70+ and didn't want to deal with a repair.

Car has about 110k miles and up to this point, didn't have any issues and had been serviced regularly (can be seen on carfax). In addition, last year, we had $5,000 of suspension refreshening completed.

Looking to sell this to someone who perhaps can throw in a new engine and let this car continue to live on. Car does not come with the hard top (we recently sold it to a neighbor).

Asking $3,000. Car is located in Walnut Creek, California.

"They thought it was the IMS" Well of course that has to be it! What else could it possibly be?

Why is it every time a Boxster has a problem someone automatically assumes it is the IMS? There are literally 100's of other reasons why the car is not running.

There are some very simple things that can be done to determine the issue so my advise is to have a QUALIFIED Porsche mechanic do the proper procedure to narrow down the actual problem and not just 'think' its the IMS.

If you choose to sell for $3K someone is likley to get a very good deal on a very nice car that may only need minor work to eliminate the 'stall'.
