Cobalt Blue and Ruby Red
 

Well. Have had my share of P-cars. All black, white, or Seal Gray. First one was a 944 Turbo Guards Red. So now lookin into a nice Porsche color. Ones I’m looking at: 2005 Boxster in Cobalt Blue. IMS not replaced but a nice 45k mile car. Other is a 2009 Boxster Ruby Red 29k mile car. Yep it’s the one posted. Both great cars, nicely equipped and taken care of by Porsche enthusiasts. Both colors are nice. Both out of state not making it easy either. I know ultimately it is up to my preference but thought I’d post about colors thinking it may help my thinking process.

Ruby Red is my vote. Plus you would be buying it from a board member.

Cobalt. That Ruby Red just looks like early 2000's Chevy Impala maroon to me. Bland...

The “R” in red is short for “race car” !

Like this early ruby red “Monte Carlo 911”. The then new, recently introduced 911 was soon billed as a “rally powerhouse” after its first big race in the Monte Carlo Rally of 1965, which led right up to the Prince’s Palace of Monaco.

Not to mention that “racing red” is also the racing colors of various nations, especially Italy (since 1907 all Italian sports cars –i.e., Alfa Romeo, Maserati, Lancia, and later Ferrari and Abarth have been painted in "racing red", as it’s the customary national racing color of Italy and synonymous with racing cars, period). Blue? That’s the racing color of France – “Bleu de France”-- which is home to Renault Group (makers of trucks, tractors, tanks, buses/coaches and autorail vehicles and cars, like this Blue Renault Clio) and also the French Grand Prix, part of the annual Formula One automobile racing championships, among others and including of course the 24 Hours of Le Mans.

Speaking of Le Mans, it is to be noted that in 1970 a Porsche 914-6 competed, winning its class (ahead of several Porsche 911 entries) and as I recall finishing 6th overall (preceded only by prototype racecars like the V12 Ferrari 512); 914s competed successfully in numerous other races and, in 1973, also served as the first pace car in the Canadian Grand Prix and, not to make your decision more difficult by introducing another color or anything, but the 914s were Yellow.

As for Chevy, they make good trucks, don't they? Like the Silverado HD 2500 & 3500 which tow, among other things, flat beds, car carriers and enclosed race car trailers, regardless of color. ;)

Cobalt Blue paint was a $3,000 option.

Still haven’t decided what to do. Hopefully soon.
I did find one that was nice. Found out person bought it this January for $16k and now selling it for $20k firm. I am usually pretty good at finding things out. Nice 4 month mark up. The hunt goes on but keep on coming back to the two I mentioned earlier.
Thanks for all the input. Didn’t realize CB was a $3k option and leaning in the direction.

I absolutely love the cobalt blue color and will definitely be buying my next pcar with that color at some point. Is the 2009 a 2009.1 or 2009.2? The later 2009's got the PDK and IMS-less motor if I'm not mistaken, and that's worth some extra money to me.

Not having an IMS is more important to me than color.

2009 no IMS to deal with. A good selling point.

When it debuted in 2003, don't know how long that continued.
