NorCal: 2000 Boxster - Arena Red - LN IMS - Hardtop, Litronics, Full Leather, etc

2000 Porsche Boxster (2.7L, 5 speed manual)
Clean Title
139k miles
Arena Red
Original 2000-issue (4LLW) CA license plate

Given the mileage and condition of this car, it is fair to say this is a DRIVER'S CAR. This is not an immaculate creampuff that can be shown on a concours lawn, this is a mechanically solid car that's ready to drive anywhere. I just got back from a 900 mile road trip and it performed flawlessly with exactly zero issues.

I have an inch-thick folder of receipts going back to 2006. The previous owners were not shy about getting every issue fixed, mostly at Sonnen Porsche, Stevens Creek Porsche, and Flintworks. The major points in the maintenance history are:

2007: Clutch replaced
2008: Water Pump replaced
2010: RMS replaced; LN IMS bearing installed; Transmission replaced with 31k mile 5 speed; CV boots replaced; cam cover resealed; new engine mount; front brake hoses replaced; sway bar end links replaced
2012: RSS rear toe links installed

Since I have owned the car, I have done:

-987 Boxster shift box (huge improvement in shift quality!)
-New Window Regulators (both)
-New Battery
-Flushed coolant
-Flushed brake fluid
-Wiper Blades (twice)
-Replaced fuel sending unit
-All filters replaced (air, oil [twice], fuel, cabin)
-New OEM Porsche floor mats
-Alignment

This car is extremely well optioned, and I have the original window sticker. The breakdown of the options is as follows:

Quote:
X70 – Stainless steel door entry guards with logo
X71 – Alu-look instrument dials
X97 – Gear lever knob with aluminum inlay
X98 – Handbrake lever with aluminum inlay
030 – Sports chassis – 10mm lower
139 – Seat heating, left
222 – Traction Control
224 – Active Brake Differential
236 – Internal production code related to tires
288 – Headlamp washer
340 – Seat heating, right
413 – 18” 993 Turbo-look wheels
424 – CD compartment
437 – 8-way electrical seat, left
438 – 8-way electrical seat, right
446 – Wheel caps with colored Porsche crest
454 – Automatic speed control
490 – Sound system
502 – Produced at Valmet plant in Uusikaupunki, Finland
535 – Alarm 315mhz
537 – Seat memory, left
551 – Wind deflector
584 – Storage box on engine cover
601 – Litronic (xenon) headlamps
692 – 6-disc CD changer Becker Porsche CDC-3
696 – CD-radio Becker Porsche CDR-220
981 – Leather dashboard and door panels
983 – Leather seats
The only issues with this car are cosmetic. Here is the list of minuses:

-Minor dings on left side of car from previous owner's apartment parking garage
-Small dent on hardtop (no damage to paint)
-Scrapes underneath front bumper
-Scrapes on lower right side of car
-Minor scratch on rear bumper
-Sap on top of car
-Paint in overall great shape, could use a buff to get rid of minor swirls in clear coat
-Duct tape residue on center console
-Rear plastic window is yellow (doesn't bother me as I've only put the soft top up one time)

This car always starts right up, runs and idles perfectly, and VarioCam kicks in (yo). I drive this car like a Porsche should be driven; I let it warm up for 10-15 miles before getting on it, and then make sure to give it a full throttle run to redline at least once every time I drive it. I'm very particular about gasoline and have never put anything into it besides Shell, Chevron, or 76.

I'm asking $8000. Price is OBO, but I will only accept offers after you've seen and driven the car. First you decide you want it, then we'll decide how much it's worth

Most recent photos, unedited/straight from phone:

Here's the "Full Leather" interior. Note the leather dash covering instead of the 'basketball' material. Also note the Porsche Exclusive aluminum gauges, shift knob, and handbrake lever.

Full Leather door panels, which are more complex in design, better looking, and better feeling than the standard ones:

Both trunks are fully intact. Has original spare tire plus cover. I even have an extra container of OEM Porsche wiper fluid.

And since this forum only lets you post 10 pics per post, here are some other pics. First, a couple snaps from the rally I just did:

And here are some glamor shots showing how pretty this car is. Full disclosure, there was some Photoshop used in the following photos to remove the sap and some scratches.

You can see the dent in the hardtop from this angle:

I'll step in here and vouch for this car--

It's one of the nicest 986's I've seen, VERY well optioned (I'm shocked someone optioned up a non-S to this level), has the hardtop, and proved itself 100% reliable over the 2017 Coastal Range Rally.

It's also in the best color ever applied to the 986, IMO--Arena Red.

If I were in the market, I wouldn't hesitate to buy this.

Very nice Boxster, would you be willing to help in shipping car to Kona?

You can ask the buyer about that. The car has everything on the original window sticker, including the top

Thanks dude. 900 miles, most of it on backroads and it performed great.

I asked someone who sold Porsches in the late 90's/early 00's what they thought about the options on my car; $58k would be the price of an S with decent options. He said that when the S came out, it was pretty hard to get for the first couple years, so people would just spend the same money on a loaded base car. Mine could have been a showroom model ordered with all the goodies, or someone could have special ordered it.

It definitely has every "hot" item checked, except the Aerokit. Cool spec for sure.

Sorry, I don't want to deal with shipping.

This is an incredible car. I had the opportunity to drive it... Pictures just don't do it justice, and it rides like a much younger car. I only passed because I'm trying to get into spec (2.5)...

Good luck with the sale!
