WTB: Well maintained Boxster 986S under $10K

If anyone is selling their Boxster S 2000-2004, I'm looking to purchase one before Spring time.

My only requirements are that it must be well maintained, be less than 1000 miles from NJ, and be a manual.

Any color would be considered, and high-mileage examples (100k miles) are fine. Please send me a PM if your looking to sell

Thanks
JohnH

A couple of choices

Hello,
Well, to be honest, your price is a little low. However, your willingness to consider higher mileage examples does offset that a bit.

I have several S models 2000-04. The one I am currently preparing for market is a 2002 with 69K that is faster than any other early S I've driven and I've driven a lot. I suspect the DME has had a tuner program to increase performance. That's the good news, the bad news is that I need more like 12.9K for it. Its worth every penny. If all S models ran like this one, Porsche would sell a whole lot more Boxsters.

Ok, so now more to your price range. I have a 2000 S that has 150K that needs and engine swap (I have the engine, but this job is waiting while I work on another project). This is the least expensive S in my stable. What does that mean? When I get it running again, I'll let you know, but it will be less than 10K.

That project is a 2003 S with 112K that has a miss in cylinders 1, 2, 5&6 and a bad injector on #2. While I'm doing the work, I'll put in a new IMS bearing, AOS, plugs, etc. in the next week or so. This car will sell for right at 10K, maybe a little higher.

I'm sure you need more info on these before making a decision. But, I must tell you, where I'm at. I used to say I like working on cars. Then my sister in law wanted me to work on her minivan, so I changed that statement to, "I like working on cars -THAT I like to work on. Then my wife said you, "you have too many Boxsters," So, I changed the statement again to; "I like working on cars, that I like working on, WHEN I like working on them." Bottom line, I do great work, but I'm slow.

I'd suggest you raise your price a little and figure out a way to come drive this 2002. It friggin flies. No really. I can't believe its a 3.2. You won't be disappointed.
Sport seats. Litronics, Pioneer NAVI double DIN, no rust, glass window, etc.

Thanks, Joe

You should be able to find one pretty easily in that price range. I have seen quite a few S's for under 10k. Good luck!

Agree.

Like I said, my 2000S with 129K miles drew no interest on CL back in November here in NW Florida. My asking price was high $8's. Solid, maintained car with glass window, new tires and brakes. No leaks or issues but no interest. Go figure.

Others in the area were priced similar.

Which cars?

My car is no longer for sale. I may reconsider in the spring.
