Boxster S Wanted

I am looking to spend around $20,000 on a boxster S. From what I can tell from looking at the classifies and talking to some owners that the market is soft for these cars. I see many cars posted on Autotrader or Car Gurus and it appears that the pricing is way high from where Consumer Reports or KBB says they should be. I have also watched many cars 2001, 2002, 2003, and 2004 start in the mid $20K range and slowly drop in price.

I am looking for a car under 50K miles and would take either manual or auto. I am currently looking a 2004 and 2005 but the dealers are looking for low to mid $20K for these. Are they over priced?

A 2004 and later for mid 20's asking price (actual price should be lower, right?) seems right in the ball park based on the 50k mileage limit. Check Craigslist for more private deals. Bet you can get 20 or a bit less once you get away from dealers who rightfully need higher profit margins.

And don't be in a rush...

thanks that is what I thought, I was looking at a 2001 a month back with 56K miles, 2 owner, no accidents, got the price down to $15K from a dealer (Mazda) but the Car Fax report showed that early in it's history around 12K miles an engine seal had to be replaced under warranty and the carfax said the engine was removed. I passed on this one because I was worried about it being more then a seal.
