Perfect 991 Carrera S -- PDK, Sport Chrono, PSE
Sad day...
My father passed away recently. He caught the Porsche bug from me. After owning scores of cool cars, a '64 Karmann Ghia, '70 Chevelle SS, '89 Miata (brand new!), and '93 Rx7 R1, he drove my first Boxster and was blown away. He's since bought a 987 Boxster S and then this car, his absolute dream, a 991 Carrera S with all the toys. He was a retired engineer, and maintained all of his vehicles impeccably. I had planned to wait until spring to sell, but found out that the homeowner's insurance will not protect the car even though it's in the garage and covered, and it is doubling my current insurance costs to cover this car on my policy, so I have to sell quickly. The car is absolutely perfect. The OEM tires are in very good shape and there are no scratches at all on wheels, body, or interior. Car has never been on the track (although he planned to do it in the spring...) and the miles are pretty much all from driving to his radiation / chemo appointments 90 miles away for the past 5 months. The car has a custom clear bra installed that covers around 50% of the paint, and an Escort 9500Ci integrated radar system. It has nearly every option except PCCBs -- Sport Chrono, PDK, PASM, PDLS, ParkAssist, PTV, PDCC, PSE w/ Sport tailpipes, 20" Carrera Classic wheels with painted crests, power folding mirrors, Panoramic sunroof, embossed heated/cooled 14 way seats, etc. The title is clear and without lien. I'll have to find the original window sticker, but I believe it was 127k. The car is located in Tennessee, but I am not. I will make arrangements to show / deliver the car to serious buyers. http://986forum.com/forums/uploads01...1384443392.jpg http://986forum.com/forums/uploads01...1384443412.jpg http://986forum.com/forums/uploads01...1384443426.jpg http://986forum.com/forums/uploads01...1384443450.jpg |
Sorry for your loss Black Box. Looks like a very nice ride and I am sure he enjoyed it.

Thanks for that, Topless.
I hate to sell his 911 that he really loved driving for the past year, but we all know a car like this can be a liability. He made it very clear to not feel obligated to keep any of the "stuff" and to quickly try to get back to normal life. As nice as this Carrera is, I prefer to keep my Boxster (which was his too). I'm just glad he got to have his dream car for his last year of life. My dad got me into cars, and I got him into Porsches. Hopefully I'll have a son (or daughter) who will want to build a "vintage" Boxster someday -- I'll still have a lot of spare parts ;) |
Sorry to hear about your dad :( That's an amazing looking 991, my favorite color, good luck with the sale :)

I am sorry to hear about your dad.

I don't see a price, year or mileage. May have an interest at the right price.

Sorry, Fullthrottle. I cut and pasted from another ad I put up on RL that had all that in a separate form.
It's a 2012.5 model with 6500 miles and the ask is 105k. VIN is WP0AB2A98CS122248 |
Very nice 991. GLWS.
RIP to your father. |
Thanks everyone for the kind words.
I actually found my first Boxster S online in Alabama, while living in NYC. I made a deal with the guy over the phone, then had my dad drive down from near Memphis to inspect, pay, and bring back the car. It was a month before I could get down there to pick it up. He had put 1400 miles on the car with no major trips! A week after I pried the keys out of his hand, he began looking for another Box and wound up with the one I'm currently driving. He was crazy about the cars, and had planned to upgrade every two years with me taking the hand-me-downs at a nice price. It's just a small part of my memories of my father, but we always bonded over cars, whether it was shopping for my first car with a ziploc full of twenties from my restaurant job in high school (he grounded me by confiscating the distributer cap!), having him trying to help diagnose starting problems with my old truck in college, or getting to play with german sportscars ten years later. |
Good luck with the sale!!
Guys, black box is a stand up guy. I bought his first boxster from him. I'm sorry for your loss. |
Maybe you can insure it through a collector car policy like Leland West, linked from the PCA web site. My boxster is insured through them at around 1/5 of the rate it was when it was on my regular policy.
