If I can make a couple suggestions...

Get some nice pictures taken with a quality camera. Your pictures look like they were taken with a cell phone camera or in very low light, because they're very grainy. People want to see how beautiful the car is and it doesn't convey from those pictures. I would probably pick a different location with less distraction in the images as well. Maybe a deserted road or a park where there isn't so much background clutter?

Have you listed the car on cars.com, autotrader, craigslist and eBay? Listing it here is great, but most members of this board already own a Porsche and it doesn't seem to generate a lot of traffic from buyers.

Looks like a nice car and a good price. Good luck.

Thanks for the suggestions, I've already listed the Box on Craigslist, 6speed, Autotrader and pcars. The pictures were the best i could do since i dont have alot of time or money to buy a professional camera. the light out when the pictures were taken was good but the camera isnt exactly professional grade.

I figure if a buyer is genuinely interested in the car, they will come look at it to a closer look, but if i need professional grade images just to get a little response then chances are that this isnt the car for the person and i wouldnt want to deal with someone that might ask me to jump through hoops cause i've done that before and usually the result is I never hear from them again.

You don't need professional grade pictures. You just need pictures which show the car in its best light. You don't have a buddy with a digital camera?

And sure, someone local will want to come see the car. But what if it's someone from 100 miles away coming to see it? There are a lot of Boxsters on the market - your goal is to try to make yours stand out.

Nice car CJ.

+1 on the pics. It is a tough time to sell a car right now unless it's a Prius. If you want to sell it quickly take just 4 or 5 AMAZING shots (djlomas style) at a park, at the beach, or in the mountains on a beautiful day. Surely you know someone with a decent camera and a good eye for composition. Sell the sizzle, not the steak. Buyers want to envision themselves with the car in an exciting location, not at the repair shop ;). Great pics might mean the difference between selling it this week or selling it in January.

Check these out for ideas:

As the owner of a 97, I must say you've taken very good care of your boxster and invested a fantastic amount of cash into it with all those repairs/replacement parts and mods.

Selling it for under 12k is a STEAL. Someone is going to drive off with an amazing looking and performing car.

Best of luck selling it. The pix are fine in my opinion!

John V 10-08-2008 07:13 AM

My intention wasn't to hijack your thread or insult you - just trying to help you sell your car since you said you weren't getting much interest. I've bought and sold a lot of cars over the years and I think I know what it takes to attract interest. Best of luck.

Brucelee 10-08-2008 08:59 AM

Those pictures are more than fine.

Well so have I John, I've sold over 12 cars so far since i've been able to drive 8 years ago. The only place high res pictures will do any good is a forum that is loaded with non-porsche owners cause the forum wont automatically resize it, As for Craigslist and Autotrader (which im listed in) they resize your large images so its no use, and if someone isnt sporting the t1 fiber optic line, they wont want to wait too long for my over size pictures to load.

Best of luck on your eBay auction, Hey i have a for sale thread on 6speed, maybe you can get more hits if you post the link to your auction in that thread too.

Autotrader and Craigslist resize your pictures but they don't make them grainy like they were taken with a cell phone. There's a big difference to many buyers out there. But if you're not targeting those buyers then you have nothing to worry about.

Photos show the car well. No need to upgrade.
Check you email for my reply. Thanks
