New NASA time trial class TT5: finally a fit for Boxsters
NASA has been talking about it for awhile and finally added TT5 to their time trial class. Oddly you can sign up for 2018 events in TT5 and I’ve confirmed with the mid-Atlantic director that it’s active but the rule book hasn’t been posted. The good news is the weight to power limit is 14. A Spec Boxster comes in at 14.7, so a perfect fit. In the past Boxsters have been a bad fit in everything from SCCA autocross classes to NASA racing classes so this is great news (for me at least). Hopefully I see some of you out there this year.

NASA rule books almost always come out before mid December:
https://www.nasaproracing.com/rules/super_touring_5_rules.pdf It goes a long way toward having a class that a Boxster "might" be competitive in. A few rules are kind of annoying, like being penalized for having a hard top. |
Thanks! There are definitely some things that make it hard like the a-arm penalty and mid-engine penalty. running 225s is going to be tough too. I’m shocked S2000 we’re able to squeak into the class too, they are much faster than Boxsters on the track.
