Has anyone managed to transport 4 wheels in a Boxster w. passenger seat removed??
 

Any thoughts on the feasability of transporting 4 wheels in the Boxster with the passenger seat removed?

Alternatively I could put one in the trunk, if there is room. My car is over at the cage-builder and I'm hoping to pick up a new set of wheels when I go to collect it. It would be nice to know if it will be possible.

I know you can get 2 stood up in the seat. You need to tie them down obviously! You can also use a blanket and lay one down on the rear bootlid and strap down. That then leaves you trying to get one in the front.

With the passenger seat removed I bet you can, somebody on here has done it when they went to get new tires, but I can't remember who. You can probably fit one up front in the frunk if you can't get all 4 where the pax seat goes.

Thanks everyone. So there is no way to fit a wheel in the rear compartment? I have removed the spare tyre before delivering the car to the cage-builder. I bet I could fit one in the frunk.

I'll try when I get home from work today and post back. Maybe a front wheel/tire will fit.

I've done it. The front trunk fits a tire -- just barely, but it's as designed for when you get a flat on the road. (Hmmm, not 100% sure if I tried that with carpeting and stereo amplifier installed....) Then put 2 tires standing up on the passenger floor, and the last one sideways on top of them.

If you are only driving slowly for a very short distance, you can also put a tire in the rear trunk with the lid ajar. Probably need to strap the lid down so it doesn't bounce.

A lot of people on this forum have been very helpful. It's largely thanks to you I've been able to get so quikcly up to speed with the Boxster.

Once I have some spare time on my hands I'll try to pay you back by posting some usefull stuff. I have been taking pictures and recording many of the mods and repairs I have done so far.

I've done it with 4 17" rims, no tires without removing the passenger seat. One went in the frunk, one on the passenger side floor with the seat pushed all the way back and two on the passenger seat. I even fit a set of four in boxes that way. I didn't have to remove the spare.:cheers:

Baja style. 1 in frunk, 2 in seat and 1 on top of the new cage you had built.

I just checked, a tire won't fit in the rear trunk, it is not a factor of the lid closing, the tire doesn't lay flat in the back of the trunk because the diameter is too big...

Easypeasy: 3 in trunk, 1 in front seat. I do it every week for track days.
The trick is to disconnect the top of the trunk shock struts. That will let the trunk open enough to get the wheels "inside". I have a 4" by 4" piece of wood under them to support them as they wont fit all the way to the bottom. But this gives me space underneath to fit my floor jack.

And yes, these are 8.5 and 11" wide OM 996 Gt3 wheels with a one inch spacer in back, that are a tight fit with Bilstein PSS9. I have rolled the fenders a little.

I have also done it with two in the passenger seat and the other two lying flat in trunk, one on top of the other, with boot lid open....but I don't think that is good for the seat....I fixed hooks to the bottom of the trunk to strap them down.....

Yes. You can get one in the front trunk and three in the passenger side if the seat is removed.

Easy. This is bringing home a set of 18" replica GT3 wheels. I have the fourth wheel in the frunk.

I carried a full set of 4 tires, no problem.

2 fronts in the passenger seat, one rear in the frunk and 1 in the trunk, although it stays open a couple inches.
