New look and numbers for the Boxster

Hoping to do some club racing with a local group this year. The old number on the car was taken so I needed a new one. Checked and found that 59 was available with both them and PCA. Buddy works for a sign shop so he can do any vinyl I want. So I designed up some round numbers based upon the old Brumos Porsche numbers. Took a similar font and modified it in Illustrator to more closely resemble the Brumos font.

Put the side numbers on last night. Going to go with a double stripe on the top - which looks similar to the single stripe on the 997 4.0 GT3's but in white. So I'm waiting for the stripes to do the hood. Very happy with how they came out.

Design for stripes (yes it's a Cayman but it's from the website)

Every boxster should be numbered this way. Doors look great

Looks great! Can't wait to see how the stripes look.

Done - except the rear. The stripe wasn't long enough to wrap around the duck tail under the wing - but I have enough to complete it. Not sure what I'm going to do yet. Very happy with the results and only a couple little issues along the way.

Great looking job. Are the air intakes OEM black or are they a modified intake?

The side intakes were on the car when I got it - definitely not OEM - and honestly don't know where they came from. They connect to the intake box in the trunk. You can see it better in this pic.

Looks great! You can't pick a better number for a Porsche.

See my response above in the post with the track pic. Have no idea where they came from - they are on the car when I bought it. They were probably put on the car in 2009-10 or so.

First off, the car looks fantastic and the strips look amazing. Love the side view mirrors as well. The flat black window banner did not go unnoticed as well. Just showed my wife a the pictures and she asked if you had the whole car repainted? Did you? The red really looks good in the pics.

The side air intakes were built by me from scratch. I created a male mold/form shaped out of foam then laid fiberglass cloth and resin over the mold many many times until the piece was thick and strong. I then removed the foam via a Dremel drill. Cutting it out from the inside out. Sanded the part down to how you see them now. Flat black rattle can spray paint and done. The most difficult part was attempting to get both parts symmetrical. They're opposites so you can't just make two parts identical in all ways.

Anyway, looks great. Congrats on the changes.

Hey! Thanks - getting ready to take it to Laguna Seca on Thursday. I didn't repaint it - but I did buff it out on the hood and doors to get rid of the fade from the old numbers - while it isn't perfect they are barely visible. My only complaint is that the window banner doesn't come down a bit farther. I'll probably add a bit of black vinyl to the bottom after my last tearoff is done.
