I am going to AutoX my '99 for the 2nd time on Sunday! I would welcome any tips for getting the most out of it in slow corners.

I am running 280 TW tires on 17's 225fr /255re.

The 1st outing was my very first AutoX exactly 1 year ago. My car seemed to have alot of understeer, but that could have been me. Since I was beaten by some miatas, I bought a '90 miata like my friends and have done 6 events with it. That engine needs a re-build, so i am back to try the boxster again.

Porsche builds in understeer, its simply safer for unskilled drivers

Tire pressure will effect the under/oversteer.
I am running 32 f / 34 r vs factory 29 f /36 r

225/255 on 17's is much better the the factory 205/255 setup

What tires are you running?
Are you staying street stock, or running a modified class

I am C Street in SCCA, car has not been modified.

Front tires I bought and are Nitto Neo gens,
Rears came on the car and are Maxxis MA-Z1 Victra, which seem to be darn sticky, probably more so than the fronts, but i tried to match the best I could.

with different tires front and rear, it could change the handling a lot

Jay, I tried your pressures cold, and it seems to have given me a lot more steering at street speeds. Looks promising for competition tomorrow. Thanks!

I've been running 35F / 37R racing temp (checked and reset between runs) on my Bridgestone Potenza S-04 Pole Position 205/255 setup (plan on changing to 225/255 at next tire change). Just make sure you chalk your tires so you can see how much rollover you're getting and you can dial in the pressure during the day.

Also just so you know 2015 SCCA rules has 97 - 08 Boxster in B street not C street

What?!?!?!? Crap I just made my number plates... ok B Street doesn't seem fair at all. At least I felt like I had a chance against the FR-S twins

In BS you'll have tons of fun chasing S2000s, Evos, and STIs. I like that it motivates me to continually improve instead of having an easier time beating up the FRS/BRZ crowd in CS.

Thanks for the tips. The car seemed much better especially on corner entry.

I set the pressures to 32 fr / 34 re and when hot they measured 34 fr / 37 re

My first run was a 62 sec and I set my goal at a 58. I ran a 59.9, a 59.0 and then my last run was a 57.9.

That placed me 15/31 , and surprisingly, I was not last place in BS.

Thanks again JayG for the tire pressure tips. My car feels so balanced now, I just leave my pressures that way for the street & its much better. Saved me from buying the M030 kit for now.
