Track Day Clean-Up

I hate to sound like a dweeb, but my car looks awful after a track day.

Even after cleaning with lots of soap and water, I have tire marks all over the paint, and the Pagid RS-14 brake dust clings tenaciously to the wheels.

I have found that the easiest way to clean all this off is with mineral spirits. If I wipe just gently with a paper towel soaked in mineral spirits the offending marks disappear immediately, but I worry if this will cause long term damage to paint or wheels. I do hit it with spray on wax right after the mineral spirits treatment.

Anyone else try this, or have a better way to clean up after a track day?

I've been using mineral spirits to clean lead and oil residue off the belly of my aircraft of over 10 years with no adverse effects and the paint on my plane is 45yr old lacquer. I have to think that modern automotive paint will tolerate mineral spirits just fine...

I use Simple Green and it works great too.

Put a good coat of high quality wax on before you go to the track. The rubber stuff and bugs comes off real easy then with a detail spray.

+1 on the above & if needed substitute WD-40 for mineral spirts.

I recently bought a can of "Shield" temporary spray-on bra protection by Dupli-color #BP-200, plan to try it on next track day.

That sounded great until I went to the website, spray on, wash off.
I was really hoping it was a peel off.
