One Boxster lap at COTA
Record setting lap for Blue 986's at COTA!
Other colors were likely faster. If you ever get the chance, drive this track. The grip (even in the wet on Saturday) is just incredible. Back straight speed was 125, fast cars were doing 150. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7p7rVFb7FIg |
AWESOME! Thanks for posting the video. I am pretty sure that you win the 986Forum 1st place trophy at COTA!

Very cool! The track looks awesome.

Great track, nice driving, POS street tires (?)
There have been all kinds of angry posts over at Rennlist about COTA backing out on a track day commitment, but I'm glad to see some were able to enjoy. |
Street tires but they're Hankook R-S3's and they go pretty well until I start over driving them.
It seems the exec management at COTA was against the rentals, but their top business development guy had experience with HPDE's and he convinced them to take a shot with a few groups. Everything went well, no guard rails, fences or barriers hit despite Saturday first 2 sessions for each run group being on a fully wet track. Grip was still incredible. |
That was some fancy driving, DFW02S. Corners looked good, with good speed and hitting the apexes, I was diggin' it…until that darn 911 came along!
Still wish I could have been there. Thanks for representing! |
Too damn cool. Tracks like these are what dreams are made out of.
|
Thanks guys.
This lap flows a little better but the times are near identical. You can see the lack of horsepower on the back straight as the Evo and Vette go by. |
COTA? I'm so jealous. Out of curiousity, what was the cost for the track day there? Any more expensive than a typical DE event?
|
$375 per day
Twice the normal cost and it was worth every penny.

Really nice video and great lines!
Of course this is the ONLY chance for guys like us to compare with F1 cars. I think best lap time for F1 is around 1:30, for the Rolex cars 2:00, for the Rolex GT cars 2:09 But with these super-long straights you're seriously ad a disadvantage in a Boxster |
