Took these pictures this morning before the sun became too harsh: http://memimage.cardomain.net/member...40_43_full.jpg Took a picture of me in the door just to show the shine. http://memimage.cardomain.net/member...40_42_full.jpg http://memimage.cardomain.net/member...40_41_full.jpg On a side note. Went to a Porsche Swap meet here in Tampa on Sat and was able to score a set of 18" Turbo Twist Wheels (same ones I have on my car now) for $300.00. Wanted another set of wheels to put something with more grip on to do Auto-X and DEs with. Wasn't expecting to get anything this nice but couln't pass it up for the price. |

Exquisite!
Super job! I am looking forward to doing a similar marathon as soon as the weather gets a little bit nicer and if I come close to the shine what you have my grin will only get bigger.

Thanks for all the kind words :) . Next week I'll wash and one step (cleaner wax) my DD. Here is a picture of the last time I did a marathon wax on her:
http://memimage.cardomain.net/member...40_34_full.jpg Been procrastnating on doing the wife's Land Rover. That car is just so stinking big. (Geez, can't find a picture) Here is a pic of my Z that I bought back when I was 19 (I'm 42 now). She is 23 years old and still has the original paint job. It's clean and under a cover so I won't have to do anything to her for awhile. http://memimage.cardomain.net/member...140_9_full.jpg Can you tell I like taking pictures? Quote:

Damn, and I thought I was obsessive about washing waxing my car for 3 hrs. Come up to IL and I'll pay you to wash my S. It does look shiny.
|
Yeah that trunk shot is amazing, it could be used as a nice desktop background. Really good job.

great job...thanks for the pics!

1st, nice job! MIP is a must have for dark cars. Optimum also does a really good job if you have an orbital polish. 2nd, always take an aspirin after a big detailing session!
3rd, If you are a fan of layering P21s I would suggest trying FK1 FX100 between layers. It's the only sealing glaze I have used that works well over acrylics or carnaubas equally well. It will allow the P21 to last much longer and you won't be wiping off the previous layer of P21s when you put on the 2nd or 3rd or 4th. But even if you only do one layer of Souveran, P21s, S100 I would seal it with FK1 425 since in my experience, full unblended Carnaubas(no acrylics presents) will attract more dust and debris sitting bare on the paint. An anti-static layer is a black car's best buddy. I unearthed the car's shine this weekend after weeks of rain, snow, crud, salt etc. Before the fall weather came I did a modest layer of Werkstatt Prime Strong and the usual post wash application of my anti-statics (either FK1 425 or 166). Yesterday I got out the clay bar and I have to tell you the clay went back into the jar nearly as clean as it came out. That was a post winter first, well winter isn't over yet. |
