Spoiler Switch
I am a new owner of a 98 Boxster and when I was going the car I noticed that the switch for the rear spoiler is missing. Is this something that is usually done for a reason or did the PO need something to sell on Ebay? Thanks for your consideration Ed

Hi,
The Spoiler deploys automatically at approx. 75MPH and retracts automatically at around 50MPH. The only Spoiler Switch that is stock to the car is a MOM Switch which protrudes through the FuseBox Cover on the Driver side Kick Panel for manual deployment. As a Hack, people do install the Spoiler Tip Switch from a 996TT on the Dash - PN# 996.613.155.00 by routing a wiring harness to the OEM switch. Hope this helps... Happy Motoring!... Jim'99 |
You can add an over-ride switch to keep the spoiler down if you like.

I mrealize that the switch is on the fuse box cover and am aware of what it does. I was wondering if anyone had any idea as to why it was missing, ie: not getting speeding tickets, wiring problems. The light on the dash operates as it is supposed to , but I really do not know if the spoiler is active upon speed. Thanks, Ed

Someone hit the switch with their foot and it fell behind the fuse box.

I did the mod and it's cool and all,but it was a PITA splicing and soding small wires in such a small work place. Oh well,it works, live and learn! Only cost like $35 in parts and a couple of hours of labor not too bad. If you want to check to see if your spoiler is working just have someone be a passenger and tell them to turn around and see if the spoiler raises at 75mph.
