placement of Boxster badge

So I am looking at this Boxster from a dealer in Florida. The carfax is clean but I just noticed the placement of the rear badge. It looks waaay to high to me. I looked at other 2003's on ebay and found zero placed this high. I wonder if it was fixed and placed by a garage that didn't know where they go?

Yeah it's high, but maybe not a bad thing. I've occasionally wondered why the "correct" badge position is so low as to be obscured by the automatically raised spoiler, which would not be this case here.

I think its just the previous owners personal touch with the placement of the badge.

You might want to have it checked out for accidents since there is a chance that the body shop didn't know what they were doing. But in all honesty this could be done for any number of reasons. The owner might have gotten a badged one and changed his/her mind later on. Or, perhaps, the owner did not like the wing blocking the badge and decided to move it.

Did you ask the dealer? If they don't know, they might be able to put you in touch with the previous owner.

I think a badge that high looks crappy. I suggest moving it down or doing away with it completely, my opinion of course.

1) The current location is high

2) perhaps the car was originally ordered with the no cost "designation delete". Maybe the more recent owner wanted the name put back, did it himself, and thought it looked great there.

3) It can be removed ;)

Personally, I'm thinking about pulling off my grey Boxster emblem (lots of white crap around it from wax and such... then get the 986 emblem.

lol lol when i saw that i blurted out laughing......hahahahahahahahahahaahah so funny. sorry i'm drunk!!!!! so was the guy who put that thing on!!!!!!

well either its been hit/repainted and put on there by mistake
or
the owner wanted to be original, as stupid as that looks.

also, when taking the badgeoff, make sure that it still doesnt show the "boxster" from sun beating on the rest of the lid but not under the badge.
i debadged mine, and i can still see it, so i put new emblem on

It looks pretty dumb imo. Whatever the reason I would move it.

The badge is just plastic and stuck on with adhesive. They are easily damaged by being caught with a polishing rag, for example, so many of them get replaced at one time or another.
That said, most owners could get it closer to the original position, unless it was placed high on purpose, or by somebody that had no idea where it really went.

Just remove it. Buy yourself a 986 emblem. They look better anyway.
